A loan of $2,525 helped a member to buy condiments.

Kotognogontala Group's story

The members of the Kotognogontala group are married women who, on average, are 32 years old and have four children. They live mostly in monogamous families in the Bougoula neighborhood, one of the outer areas of the town of Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali. The group is on their ninth loan with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, in order to satisfy their customers' needs.

In this group of women, Ami sells condiments. She is the first person seated on the right in the photo. With her loan she plans to buy 30 baskets of tomatoes and 20 packets of Maggi cubes. She sells these goods at a market and from home for cash to male and female customers.

Ami hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 60,000 francs CFA, in which a part will be used to pay back the loan and the interest and the other part will be put in savings.
