A loan of $175 helped to pay for a cooking gas package so that he can reduce on the length of time used for cooking food.

Martin's story

Martin lives with his family in Kajjansi, a sub-urban area of the Kampala metropolitan district. He is a teacher by profession. Martin confesses that more often than not he goes to school without breakfast, because it is sometimes very difficult for him and his partner to wake up early enough to prepare tea on a charcoal stove. Of late, they acquired a paraffin stove. They had hoped that this would reduce on the time of boiling water in the morning. Unfortunately, over time they have realized that the house walls started becoming dirty due to the soot produced by the paraffin stove.

Recently they visited a friend who acquired a cooking gas package from WANA and immediately they also showed interest. Previously, Martin had indicated to his partner that they would wish to acquire cooking gas but, due to its initial costs, they had not been able to acquire one. With the help of this Kiva loan, Martin and his partner are happy that they will now be having breakfast before leaving for work.
