A loan of $3,200 helped a member buy dairy cows.

Kantutas De Igachi Group's story

The community bank "Kantutas de Igachi" is starting its first term with Pro Mujer and is part of the regional hub of Copacabana. It is comprised of nine members, and is run by a board of directors and a president, Mrs. Jovita. The members' business is the sale of milk to distribution companies.

The loan that they will receive will benefit all of the small business owners in the group, including Jovita. She joined Pro Mujer a year ago at the invitation of a friend, who was also a member of the institution. Her current business is selling milk. She told us that she started this business on her own initiative; noticing the business opportunity, she bought a cow and started her business that way.

Jovita will use this loan to increase her capital through the purchase of cows, which she will acquire from the communities around the department of La Paz, and after raising them, she will use sell their milk. This work allows her to generate enough income to support her family. She is single and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she said that she likes the savings that the institution offers.

Note: One member is not present in the picture because she had to look after her animals.
