A loan of $5,325 helped a member to buy bread.

Los Andes Group's story

The Los Andes Communal bank will begin its twenty-fifth cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Panamericana regional center. It is comprised of eight members and led by a board of directors. Maria is the president. The businesses of the members of the communal bank are varied and include selling cleaning products, bricklaying services, selling shoes, selling traditional woven textiles, and selling coca.

The loan that they will take out will benefit small business women where Maria is a member. She says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for two years. She joined by invitation from her sister-in-law, who is a member of the association.

She currently has a business of selling bread. She say that she undertook this business on recommendation from a friend who conducted the same business activity. Upon observing how the product sold, she decided to undertake her own business.

The loan she will now take out is to buy bread that she will get at the bakeries in the city of El Alto. She will later sell it at her sales space. This way of working allows her to generate resources to support her family. She is in a common-law marriage, and she has five children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the loans that are offered to her by the institution.
