A loan of $450 helped purchase irons and merchandise for general store.

Nelly's story

Nelly belongs to the “Talented Women” community bank, located at No. 1030 Jr. Atahualpa, district of Calleria, Ucayali. Nelly is 36, has four children, is married to a vendor and has been working with the community bank for six years. With the first loan of US $100 (S/. 300) that she received, she decided to invest in purchasing “cancamo” irons.

Currently, Nelly continues with different businesses, like the sale of “cancamo” irons, in which both her and her husband work. They also have a small general store.

With the loan of US $450 (S/.1,300) to be repaid in four months, she will purchase 100 irons, groceries such as 2 sacks of rice, 1 sack of sugar, 2 packages of pasta, 1 package of oil, half a box of milk, etc for the general store.

Nelly is thankful to Manuela Ramos for giving her the opportunity to emerge in life, have her own business, support her family and provide education to her children.
