Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $775 helped to purchase basic grain products and cleaning products.

Kenia Rafaela's story

Doña Kenia lives in the barrio. She's 28 years old. She's married and she has 3 children, ages 7, 8 and 10 years old. Her husband is a woodmaker . Doña Kenia has had a convenience store for the past 6 years which she opened up with her own savings. Since her store opened and up to now, her store has grown over the years due to Kenia's hard work and dedication. With this loan, she's hoping to purchase basic grain products and cleaning products and to continue to offer good and reasonable prices to her clients. Her long term goal is to increase her merchandise as much as possible and to remodel her store so that she can offer the best service to her clients. She would like to continue to offer schooling/education to her children.
