A loan of $675 helped to buy a solar system to provide electricity for his home.

Juan Jose's story

Juan Jose came from humble origins. His parents always worked on coffee farms. Thus, until the age of 9, he would walk with them from community to community. Later, his parents, after many years of labor, managed to buy land in the community of El Consuelo. Here, they decided to remain and make a life. Juan Jose grew up alongside his parents, working side by side with them.

At the age of 22, he had to separate from them in order to perform military service. Two years later, thank God, Juan Jose returned alive and his father gave him some manzanas of land so that he could grow coffee and basic grains.

Now, little by little, Juan Jose took charge of his own affairs and by the time he married, he had a home to offer his wife. Then came the children and with great effort, Juan Jose advanced their lives, since he desired that they study and prepare themselves.

Conventional electrical energy has not come to this community. That's why Juan Jose is applying for a loan to purchase a small solar system and, thus, they can have lights in their home. His family is excited about the idea of having lights at night and being able to carry out other activities.
