A loan of $1,025 helped a member to buy fertilizers and seeds for his farmland.

Ngoem's Group's story

Aged 45 years, Ngoem is a rural villager from the EK Phnom district earning a living through planting cassava and growing rice. These are the main sources of the family’s income, and he has been in this business for 12 years. He has four children. The current business earns him about 95,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per day, yet he can save about 40,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Ngoem’s group consists of three members who are all males. He is a client in his third loan cycle with Kiva’s partner VisionFund, and completely paid back the loans, which have helped him better support his family. Now he's leading his group to apply for a loan, and Ngoem will use his portion to buy fertilizers and seeds for his farmland, and will use a portion of it to spend on land plowing. He hopes this loan will enable him to increase his crop yields and sell for a good price to make a better living.
