A loan of $800 helped to buy a bundle of men's pants, and a bundle of long-sleeved shirts, and another of mixed men's clothing, plus a bundle of skirts, capri pants and blouses to sell.

Aquilina's story

Aquilina is an enterprising, kind, and determined woman with 2 school-age children. She is from Puerto Cabazas. Some 20 years ago, Aquilina established in her home a used-clothing business for men and women. She also has a beauty salon which she launched with her own capital.

Thanks to the income from her businesses, Aquilina is an independent woman who is educating her children through her own efforts. She still remembers the first stages of her business, when she rented the mirror and some accessories. Little by little, her business has been growing and at present, she can count on 5 workers who help her in the beauty salon.

Some 2 years ago, Aquilina also started a used clothing business in the Bilwi market, and she has hired a girl who helps her attend to customers there.

Now she is soliciting financing to purchase a bundle of men's pants, another of long-sleeved shirts and men's mixed clothing, and a bundle of skirts, capri pants, and blouses. She is buying these products in Managua to offer at accessible prices in Bilwi.

Aquilina's dream is to remodel the location of her beauty salon, and to purchase a hair drier and a hair iron, and to offer beauty products for sale. Also, to construct a tile floor for her home, which is presently made of earth.
