Mamadou

A loan of $1,050 helped to buy cereals.

Mamadou's story

Mamadou is 41 years old and lives with his four children and his wife in the Ouelessebougou sous-prefecture, Koulikoro region. He has not had the chance to go to school. Very early on he become interested in doing things to earn money, most notably the buying and selling of cereals.

In order to satisfy his customers, whose numbers continue to grow, he decided to join Soro Yiriwaso. After having correctly paid back his third loan, he is on his fourth individual loan, which will be used to buy five tons of cereals (corn, millet, fonio) from rural producers in Faraba Dracoro and surrounding areas. These cereals will keep for at least two months.

He sells mostly at wholesale to customers who are resellers coming from the larger towns, especially Bamako.

Mamadou hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 80,000 francs CFA which will be used to repay his loan and to reinvest in his business.
