Sherbet's story

Sherbet is 54 years old, married, and with her husband is raising two sons. Her husband is involved in transporting cargo. Their sons are working abroad in Russia. They work as laborers and this is not stable work, but despite that every month they send part of their salaries to their parents in Kyrgyzstan.

Sherbet has a secondary education. As a main source of income for her family, Sherbet raises livestock, having begun 33 years ago with a livestock purchase of 5,000 som KGS. Sherbet has all the conditions to care for livestock, and there is a spacious premises and remote pastures. Hay and feed of sufficient quantity are already prepared for winter. Thanks to her hard work, Sherbet currently has on her farm: two dairy cows, 16 sheep and one horse. Monthly income amounts to 3,000 som (KGS).

With the aim of further developing her farm, Sherbet applied to the microfinance bank Bai-Tushum and Partners for a loan - to buy sheep to increase her livestock count.

Sherbet plans to invest income from the loan in further propagation of her quantity of domestic animals, and she also intends to save money for home repairs, since the children are already grown and in the near future they want to put on the wedding celebration for one of her sons.
