A loan of $925 helped to buy more fish to sell.

Generoso's story

This is Generoso, 37, resident of Bacoor, Cavite City, Philippines. He is married to Cristina, a vendor, and they have children. Generoso, together with his wife, manages their household while operating a business. He works hard to sustain and continually provide income for the family's everyday expenses.

Generoso is a fish vendor. He buys different kinds of fish at wholesale prices and sells them by the kilo. He buys fish at the local fish port early in the morning. There are many patrons who prefer his products since they are assured of their freshness and cleanliness. His store is located in a temporary fish market. His regular customers are his neighbors and the local community. He earns a minimum of 800 PHP in sales every day.

To help him continue operation of his business, Generoso is requesting a 40,000 PHP loan. He will use the loan to buy more fish to be sold every day. He expects a boost in his income as he expands his business.

Generoso hopes that his business will continue its success and dreams that his children will finish their studies. He meets up with his co-fellowship members* to share stories of his work every week and to draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God he studies.

* All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay microfinance loans.
