A loan of $4,900 helped a member to buy fertilizer and animal feed.

Tocte (Cuenca) Group's story

the "Tocte" communal bank is made up of 9 women who work in the fields daily in tasks like raising cattle and agriculture. Some also work in the city doing a variety of things. They are friendly, gentle people who work every day to improve their household finances and offer a better future for their children. They maintain the culture and traditions of their villages. They live around the parish of Jadan in Cuenca, a place full of vegetation and green fields.

One of these members is Maria Aurora who enjoys these loans because they invoke a unity in their group, solidarity and the desire to meet their goals together. Maria Aurora is 63 years old, married and has 6 children from this union. Three of the children are married and live with their families. The three single ones work and help with the family's finances. Her husband works in agriculture. They live in their own house.

Maria Aurora has worked in agriculture all her life. They consume the product in their home. She also raises pigs, guinea pigs, chickens and milk cows. The money from the loan will be used to buy fertilizer for her fields and feed for the animals. Her goal is to have more animals.
