A loan of $1,450 helped to buy supplies like manure, seed, and shading.

Hugo's story

Hugo, 26, has been an independent horticulturist for three years; previously he was employed at this trade. Hugo is from Itá and lives with his wife Ursulina, who is a housekeeper. They have a five-year-old son, who is their reason for working hard. Hugo grows many kinds of greens, such as parsley, cilantro, chard, lettuce, and spinach, on the family land to sell to wholesale brokers that resell to supermarkets in the capital and surrounding area. He will use this loan to buy supplies like manure, seed, and shading, which is very useful at this time of year, for his market garden.
