A loan of $450 helped to purchase cosmetics and clothing.

Rosa's story

Rosa is re-entering the “Damas Responsables” [Responsible Ladies] communal bank, a group that she has belonged to for nine years. She likes this form of credit because of the solidarity and camaraderie. She lives on the outskirts of Cuenca, which is considered to be the third most important city in the country. It was declared a World Heritage Site in December, 1999 and the people still maintain their culture and traditions. Rosa is 42 years old, and a single mother of two children, ages 20 and 9. Her first child, a daughter, is married and lives on her own and her second child, a son, is a student at the local school. Rosa sells clothing by catalog and it’s going very well. She also sells cosmetics. She will invest the loan in the purchase of cosmetics and clothing. Her goal is to continue growing her business.
