Migina Tukorere Hamwe Group's story

Jadrece is a member of the Migina Tukorere Hamwe group and has previously borrowed twice from UGAFODE microfinance through the group. She is a married mother of two children. One of her children is seven and the other is four years old. She trades in bananas and she has been in business since 2000. She started the business with the hope of generating income to help her cater to the needs of her family.

In addition to selling bananas, Jadrece also trades cattle which gives her more income. She works ten hours a day and feels the time is enough so that she is still able to rest and plan for her business. The business is located in Migina-Kagango in the Sheema district and her clients are mainly banana traders from the same location.

Her main challenge in her business is high transport costs which reduce her profits. Her dreams for the future include buying a car which she will use for transport. She describes herself as an honest woman: an attribute she says has helped her to retain her customers.

She applied for five hundred thousand shillings to buy cattle for trade so that her business can grow and increase her profits. In the long run she will use her profits to pay school fees for her children.
