Violeta Fredeslinda's story

The “Madre Para Un Futuro Mejor” communal bank meets in the 24 De Mayo province in Manabí every 15 days. The place is known for its beautiful scenery, its forests, its variety of wildlife, and its kind and hardworking people who devote themselves to agriculture and livestock.

Violeta, age 56, lives in this place. She is married, and they have three adult and independent children. Her 14 year old granddaughter lives with them. She is like a daughter, and she attends school. Violeta’s husband is a merchant.

Violeta and her husband have a restaurant in the center of the city. They prepare and sells delicious breakfasts and lunches there. They work every day. They have had this business for 16 years. They got their children ahead with the business, and it now serves them in getting ahead.

She will use the loan to buy rice, meat, fish, and other ingredients to make the food. She has been in the communal bank since it started. She likes it because the loans are very important to them. Her dream is to have her own place.
