A loan of $1,075 helped to buy clothes, shoes, perfumes and other such products.

Etna Azucena's story

The "Mujeres del Nuevo Milenio" loan group meets every fortnight in the Montecristi canton, known for its rich precolonial culture and its artisan products which are famous around the country and the world. It is from here that the famous Panama hat originates.

And it is here that 87-year-old Etna lives. She is divorced but during her marriage she had a daughter, now an adult. Etna lives with her daughter, her son-in-law and her grandchildren, who make her happy.

Etna is a woman who has always liked to prosper through her own efforts without depending on anybody. She has a business and sells a large variety of products such as clothes, shoes, bags, creams, perfumes, purses, costume jewellery and many more items. Etna makes most of her sales from home as she has a good number of customers who come to see her there. Etna's daughter brings merchandise every time she travels to Panamá. Etna has had the business for over 20 years and, through it, she prospers alone.

This loan will be used to buy clothes, shoes, perfumes and other such items. Etna has been with the loan group since the beginning and she likes the benefits and help she has received from it. Etna's dream is to have good health and to prosper.
