Miodrag, 34 years old, lives in Kosovo in a minority community. He is married and is raising two school-aged children. Miodrag is a hardworking man, motivated by his children to keep going. He has owned a boutique, selling clothes and shoes for adults and children, for more than 5 years. Although Miodrag started by renting a small store selling clothing, he now has his own shop and his business has expanded. He is hoping to continue to expand it in the future so that it can become his main source of income.

Miodrag also works as a medical helper in a clinic and his wife works as a kindergarten teacher, so they are both quite busy. Miodrag is requesting a loan to buy more clothes to sell, to help his business become more successful. Miodrag is very thankful for this help as his goal is to save money to ensure a better education for his children!

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
