A loan of $1,000 helped to pay for improvements to her carpentry shop.

Maria De La Paz's story

Maria and her husband live in a building that serves as both home and workshop. They have operated a carpentry business for 8 years and have two employees.
Maria will use part of this loan to buy supplies of wood for the shop and the rest to install electricity. She needs power to use equipment for shaping wood and the investment will allow her to increase production. The business will grow, she says, and generate more income.
For the future, Maria hopes to buy a building so that she can forego the rent that she pays now.
