A loan of $3,000 helped to pay for oxen and forage for feeding the livestock.

Edgar's story

Edgar is from Eghegnadzor town. He lives with his mother.

Edgar became the only bread winner in his family after his father died, and he does his best to provide minimum living conditions for his mother and brother. They own a plot of land, the harvest of which (nut trees) is very small and it is just enough for their family's use. They also have a small farm with three cows, two pigs and 10 chickens.

Edgar successfully runs his small farm with the help of his mother, who helps him very much. Edgar feels very responsible to take care of their farm and living conditions and he has decided to ask for a loan of USD 3,000 to purchase oxen and forage for feeding the livestock.

Edgar took a loan from a local financial institution before, but unfortunately wasn't able to return it back. However, thanks to hard work during recent times, he was able to run his agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that he will be able to cover the monthly payments. So Edgar has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF international. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products.
