A loan of $650 helped purchase livestock feed.

Shukur's story

Shukur is 40 and lives in a village on the outskirts of a city. He has 5 people in his family (including himself); he's married and has 3 kids. His wife works on a dekhan farm, and their family's main source of income comes from raising livestock, while Shukur earns a little extra money on the side by catching & selling fish.

In the future, Shukur hopes to get more livestock as his children are growing up, and he wants to be able to provide for their education. His children help him with the family business as best they can; it's normal for children who grow up in Tajik villages to help their parents tend to their farms, and Shukur's children are no exception. At present, Shukur needs to stock up on hay and other kinds of animal feed to prepare for the oncoming winter; as such, he's seeking a loan from Arvand to buy feed for his livestock so they'll have enough to eat through the winter and maintain their weight.
