A loan helped to purchase additional stocks of fish.

Sylvia's story

Sylvia is 24 years old, married and a mother of one. She lives in Hurungwe District in Zimbabwe. Sylvia is an entrepreneur working with other young women in her rural community, encouraging them to be economically independent. She supports her family by selling fish such as dried kapenta (a small, sardine-like fish) and dried bream in nearby towns. She started her business in 2011 when she started facing financial difficulties and it has enabled her to support her family and provide for their basic needs.

Sylvia knows there is a high demand for the fish she sells. With this Kiva loan, she plans to purchase additional stocks of fish in bulk at fisheries. This will help boost her profits and raise enough money to pay for her children’s school fees.
