A loan of $500 helped to purchase more broiler chicks and chick feed.

Servina's story

Servina is a 25-year-old single, young woman living in the Hurungwe District of Zimbabwe. She inspires young women in her community to be entrepreneurs so they can become more financially independent. She started her poultry business in 2011 after noticing an increase in demand for Rhode Island chickens with lean meat. She currently produces about 120 chickens every six weeks and sells them to the local customers. To date she has managed to employ one person.

With this Kiva loan, Servina will be able to grow her business by buying more broiler chicks and chick feed to increase production. With this investment in her business, her profits will increase and she will be able to care for her two dependents and keep them in school.
