Hermileen is married with 1 child. She is 25 years old and lives in Baybay, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.
Hermileen operates a sari-sari store (general store), and she also buys and sells corn and rice to earn a living. She had this business for 2 years. Each month, she earns PHP 8,000 doing this type of work. She has requested a loan of 30,000 for additional capital, which she will use to purchase five sacks each of rice and corn and to restock her retail shop with basic commodities.
Hermileen is a new member of PMPC, having joined this year (2013). In the future, she hopes to improve her business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
