A loan of $1,450 helped to purchase pineapple plants.

Rodrigo's story

Rodrigo is 50 years old and the husband of Graciela, with whom he has two children. The family lives in a their own home, which is made of wood.

Rodrigo has worked on farms since he was very young, when his parents taught him to do agricultural labor. Rodrigo used this experience to make farming the main source of income with which he supports his family. Rodrigo now has a six-hectare plot where he grows organic cacao, coffee, pineapples, and other produce that is in high demand in his area. Several years ago, Rodrigo set aside part of his land to plant lumber trees so that he can sell the lumber in the future and earn income from his reforested land.

This is Rodrigo's first Kiva loan and he is grateful for the financial support he's receiving to grow his business. He is also committed to making his payments on time. Rodrigo would like 4,000 new soles to purchase pineapple plants for his land.
