Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Rehema's story

Rehema is married with two children and one child goes to school. She takes care of one additional family member (mother).

Rehema operates a boutique selling secondhand dresses on a retail basis at the market. She also takes care of additional family members. She has been in this business for three years and works six days a week. She has applied for a loan of 400,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy a bale of secondhand dresses. Her major business challenges include seasonality and transportation.

She is aspiring to get permanent business premises and also to become a wholesaler. She resides in a rented house and the family has access to electricity, but does not have access to piped water. Her monthly expenses includes paying utility bills, rent, and feeding her family.
