A loan of $1,425 helped to buy two milk cows.

Xaqani's story

Xaqani is 51 years old. He earns a living by breeding cattle, and sells their milk and milk products as well as meat to local butchers. He has 10 years of experience in this field, thanks to his father who taught him how to look after cattle.

Xaqani usually buys small cows, raises and fattens them for 5-6 months and resells them for a more profitable price to butchers. Milk and yogurt are sold to neighbors. He earns about 180 AZN a month, in part because milk, yogurt, and meat are very popular products in Azerbaijan. People use meat in everyday national dishes as pilau and dolma, and always use yogurt. Milk products are seen as very healthy and used daily.

Because his family has only one source of income, he is requesting a loan for 1100 AZN to buy two milk cows. This will be his first loan.
