A loan of $1,025 helped to buy spare parts to repair the engine of his pick-up.

José's story

José is single, 42 years old and has 5 children: three boys and two girls. The oldest of his children contributes to the household income. He lives with his family in the small town of Los Encuentros, Sololá.

He makes his living offering transport services (taxi and pick-up). He does this in the community where he lives. He says that he is in this business because there is a lot of demand in his community, since it is near one of the busiest highways of Guatemala, and that there is as much movement of normal people as of businessmen who need to transport merchandise to their businesses. This work is where he obtains the majority of his income that he uses to cover family expenses.

Another source of income for José is agriculture, as well as a grocery store in Sololá, which is tended by his oldest son.

He is applying for a loan of Q 8,000.00 to buy spare parts to repair the engine of his pick-up.

He dreams of improving the condition of his house and of getting a newer vehicle in order to continue offering transport services.
