Carmen's story

29-year-old Carmen is a charismatic young woman. She is married and has two children, with whom she lives in her parents’ house. Carmen’s main job consists of selling various regional products. Depending on the season, she sells bananas, cassava, lemons, cocona, dried fish and other animal products, and the meat from wild animals, such as deer, turtles, lowland pacas, and farm hens. She has a stall located in a very busy market in the city and she works there in the mornings, whereas in the afternoons or on rainy days she works in her house where she has set up a place to display her products. She has done this work since she was fifteen years old. What she likes about her work is that it allows her to have contact with people, it gives her vitality and a lot of energy to constantly be doing physical activity, and above all she feels happy because she can generate her own earnings in order to continue covering her expenses. On this occasion she is requesting 1,600 PEN, and she is grateful for the opportunity you are giving her to make her business plans a reality. With the amount requested she will buy a greater quantity of bananas, oranges, and other regional products so she can continue working.
