Davit's story

Davit is 33-year-old married man. He lives with his wife and two children in the small village of Tsalka district. He is involved in the agricultural business from early childhood, as his parents were farmers and this is a traditional activity for the family.
Sadly, for lack of economic resources and because he had to start working at a very young age, Davit was unable to study a professional career. He works hard on family-owned agricultural land, growing potatoes. He always has high quality products, which are sold to local retailers for a good price. In addition, they own 2 cows, whose milk is used in cheese products. As the family has only seasonal income, Davit decided to start his own stable business and seek for credit among local financial institutions, but his attempts were unsuccessful because of his poor living conditions. The startup program, that is a joint initiative between Kiva and Credo, enables rural poor and inexperienced people to get a loan for starting or re-starting businesses. Davit's application was approved under the framework of this program to get a loan of 2500 Gel for purchasing a minibus. As the minibus is purchased he will get orders to transport cargo to different destinations and increase the income of his family.
