Guljan's story

Guljan is 52 years old, married, and together with her husband, is raising five children. Three of her sons are married and live separately and self-sufficiently. The other two children live with their parents. Guljan has a secondary specialized education. She graduated from a vocational school with a culinary degree. After graduating from vocational school, Guljan worked as a chef in a restaurant. Then she married her husband Anarbek and left her job, as she began her domestic life and having children. Today, Guljan has a large family; She can be considered an exemplary mother and a good wife. Currently, her children are all grown-up and she has starting working as a librarian in a local school. She has a small salary which is not enough to provide for her family.

As an additional source of income for her family, Guljan practices livestock breeding. She started this business 30 years ago, with an initial purchase of cattle in the amount of 5,000 som (KGS). Thanks to Guljan's hard work, she currently has 1 milk cow, 1 calf and 10 sheep on her farm, as well as a 1.5 hectare plot of land on which she grows beans and clover. Her monthly income is 12,000 som (KGS). For the purpose of further developing her business, Guljan turned to Microfinance Bank "Bai Tushum and Partners." She is requesting a loan to buy cows to increase the size of her herd. Guljan plans to invest the earnings from the loan in the further acquisition of livestock. She also intends to save money for her son's wedding.
