A loan helped to buy cereals.

Soumaila's story

Soumaïla was born in February 1979 in Pankafolasso in the county of Sikasso, which is located in the third-largest administrative region in the Republic of Mali. He lives there with his two wives and three children in a traditional family.

He has worked buying, storing and selling cereals and agricultural products for seven years. His experience in this field has earned him a good reputation, and he receives orders from various customers. To obtain the resources he needs to satisfy his customers, he decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution two years ago. He has repaid his two prior loans without incident. This is Soumaïla’s third loan to buy more stock.

This new loan will allow him to buy and resell around fifty 50kg sacks of cereals. He gets his supplies from Pankafolasso and the surrounding villages such as Lobougoula and Fourou, and he makes his sales in Missirikoro and Sikasso. He first stores the cereals he buys in his store in Pankafolasso for a significant period of time. His customers are men and women from the big cities.

With this loan, he hopes to make an average monthly profit of 110,000 CFA francs, which will allow him to make the payments on his loan and invest the rest in his business.
