A loan of $1,600 helped to buy food ingredients.

Lida Maricela's story

The Amistad communal bank meets every 15 days in the city of Tosagua. This place is known for being very dynamic, where a majority of the habitants work in agriculture or by raising cattle. The area has a lot of vegetation.

This is where Lida, 37, lives. She is married and has three children, ages 16, 13 and 12 who attend school. Her husband is a merchant.

Lida is a hard worker who likes to earn her own income and contribute to the education costs of her children. For 11 years she has been making sweets in different flavors and shapes. She sells to merchants and her husband also sells them at his small stall in the market.

This loan will be used to buy ingredients to make sweets. Lida has been in the communal bank since its beginnings and she likes the help she receives through the loans. Her dream is to give her children the best she can.
