Mauricio, 21, is an enterprising young man. After finishing his secondary studies he looked for work to earn an income. He began working in a business selling cheese bread, where he worked for six months and learned the recipe and the management of this type of business.
He wanted to work on his own and generate his own income so he decided to set up his own business making cheese bread. It's located on a very busy street in the downtown of the city where he lives. He has the help of one employee and he works every day from 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Currently Mauricio's requesting the support of a loan to make modifications to his place (to fix the kitchen) to optimize the space and be able to comply with all the health rules the law obliges. This will generate more trust in the customers about the product they're consuming, consequently allowing him to increase his sales.
His main wish is to be able to make his business grow and, in the future, start a company to produce this food to distribute in other cities. This would guarantee him a profitability that would allow him to have a better lifestyle.

Actualmente solicita el apoyo del crédito con el que desea realizar adecuaciones locativas (arreglar la cocina), para así poder optimizar el espacio y poder cumplir con todas las normas de salubridad que exige la ley, generando más confianza en el cliente sobre el producto que consume lo que le permitirá aumentar sus ventas. Su principal anhelo es poder hacer crecer su negocio y en un futuro montar una empresa de producción de este alimento, para distribuir a otras ciudades y garantizar una rentabilidad que le permita tener mejor estilo de vida.
This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
