A loan of $1,425 helped to buy farming supplies for her coffee plantations.

Norma's story

Norma is a 24-year old young woman who is very hard-working and a visionary. She has a strong will to surpass herself and get ahead as a single mother of two minor children. Her mother takes care of the kids while she goes to the land to work with her brother and father. Due to a lack of financial resources, she did not finish primary school and left her studies when she was in 4th grade. She comes from a poor family and her parents taught her to work in the land when she was a little girl. Her parents, grandparents and the rest of the family have always worked in the cultivation of coffee. She now has 5 years of experience and learns from her very experienced family members. The land where they work is hers as it was inherited, and is located 40 minutes away from her house.

Norma is requesting a loan to the cooperative COMIXMUL to buy fertilizer for coffee plantations, so that she will be able to obtain a healthy crop and sell it entirely afterwards. Her goal is to increase and improve the production so that it includes other products, such as corn, beans, etc. This would help her to meet her dream of improving the life conditions of her children, provide them with education and buy another piece of land to keep cultivating.
