A loan helped to buy a mototaxi for transporting her produce.

Rita Irene's story

Rita Irene is 66 years old and lives with her son and daughter-in-law in the district of Cayalti, two hours from the city of Chiclayo on the north coast of Peru. The locals make a living from livestock and commerce as well as growing sugar cane and rice.

Rita Irene earns a living raising and selling pigs and poultry such as ducks and chickens. She also grows vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, radish, onions and other crops, which she sells at the local markets.

She has asked for a loan of 3200 nuevos soles to buy a mototaxi so she can transport her produce to the local markets and save herself transport costs, which will provide more income for her family.
