A loan of $1,425 helped to buy agricultural supplies to help her coffee crops.

Maria Pascuala's story

María Pascuala is 41 years old and has 6 children. Only 5 of them are dependent on her and they all help out by working in the field along with their parents, apart from the youngest one who goes to the community primary school. María Pascuala is a housewife and farmer and has been doing this work for more than 6 years along with her husband. It was her parents who taught her from a young age to work the land, since they come from a family with a farming tradition.

The family income depends on the work they do every day as a family in the field, tending their coffee crops, because in the community where they live there is no other option for work apart from farming. The family have a 30 minute walk from their home to where they grow their crops.

María Pascuala has asked for a loan from the COMIXMUL co-operative which she will use to buy agricultural supplies for the coffee crops, which she hopes will give a better harvest and keep the final crop free of blight and insects.

Her future plans are to grow a better variety of coffee so she can get a better income from her agriculture and continue to support her children in their studies and other needs which may arise in the future.
