A loan of $2,000 helped to purchase fertilizer and wheat seeds and to pay for harvesting services.

Gor's story

Gor is a farmer from Hoktember village in the Armavir region of Armenia. He lives with his wife, seven-year-old daughter, one-year-old son and elderly mother, who is a pensioner.

Gor is engaged in breeding pigs and in cultivating wheat, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers to cover his family's needs. He sells his agricultural products in the local market. He is the family's main breadwinner. His family assists him in his everyday farming activities. To continue running his agribusiness in a sustainable way, Gor needs a loan of $2,000 US to purchase fertilizer and wheat seeds and to pay for harvesting services.

Gor has been approved for this loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and no access to credit. Gor took a previous loan from a local financial institution but, unfortunately, wasn't able to pay it back. Thanks to hard work during recent times, however, he has been able to run his agribusiness sustainably, ensuring that he will be able to cover the monthly payments of this loan.

Gor and his family will be thankful to all the lenders for helping them to maintain their agribusiness.
