Svetlana is an experienced farmer from Verishen village of the Syuniq region. She lives with her husband, school-aged son, and her elderly pensioner mother-in-law. She and her husband work in the government sector; they work as teachers at the village local school. Unfortunately their salaries are not enough to cover their daily needs.

To be able to take care of the family's needs Svetlana is also engaged in cattle breeding, in beekeeping, and in cultivation of grass and alfalfa. With the help of her husband she sells the agricultural products in the local market. As the family's needs are growing with time, Svetlana wants to expand her agribusiness in order to more effectively meet the family's needs.

She needs a loan of $3000 to purchase three cows. She has already taken a loan from a local financial institution in the past, but unfortunately wasn't able to repay it. However, thanks to hard work during recent times, Svetlana has been able to run her agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that she will be able to cover the monthly payments. So she has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF international. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products. Svetlana and her family will be thankful to all the lenders for helping them to maintain and develop their agribusiness.
