A loan of $550 helped to cover the costs of caring for her crops.

Aurora's story

Aurora is a woman, 51 years old, living in the city of Pucallpa with her four children. She is a hard working single mother who strives to help her family get ahead. Unfortunately due to the lack of resources and the need to work since she was very young, Aurora was unable to finish primary school. This meant it was impossible for her to have a professional career.

On her own initiative, Aurora became a farmer. She has a small lot where she plants cassava and other crops. She works every day for approximately 10 hours and believes that she is doing well due to her experience and dedication.

Aurora is very grateful to Kiva lenders since, thanks to their help, she will cover the expenses of irrigating, fertilizing and harvesting her crops so that she can sell at a good price. Thus she will be able to continue working and striving to fulfill her great dream of owning a dwelling that is adequate and safe for her family.
