A loan of $1,075 helped to buy chickens wholesale.

Consuelo's story

Consuelo, 31, is a hard-working young woman and mother of an 8-year-old girl, who she raises in her mother’s house. Consuelo sells chickens from a stall in one of the busiest markets in the area. Fortunately, she sells a lot and generates a lot of income as her stall is visibly well located on the corner of one of the streets.

This job requires a lot of sacrifice because in order to offer her customers the freshest and best quality produce, she has to get up early to buy the best chickens at the food markets and get ahead of her competitors. She feels that all the effort is rewarded and worth it when she sees that her little girl has all that she needs.

She has been in this business for four years, she works alone and she tells us that her desire to do things well and to generate income for her family are her motives to keep growing. She enjoys the freedom that this venture gives her as she can spend the afternoons playing or doing sport as well as being with her family. She hopes she can continue seeing her business grow.

This is the group’s eighth loan with Kiva and she is very grateful for the financial support that allows her to move forward. She is also committed to paying off the loan on time. The total she is asking for is 3,000 nuevos soles which she will use to buy the best chickens.
