A loan of $375 helped to buy cooking ingredients and the supplies to make corn liquor.

Yuliana Araceli's story

Yuliana Araceli is 35 years old and lives in the Buenos Aires district, two hours from Piura, on Peru's northern coast. In Yuliana's town, the people make a living in farming, running businesses, and raising cattle.

Yuliana makes a living selling beer, corn liquor ("chicho de jora"), snacks, and fizzy drinks. Yuliana's business is in her own home and, on occasion, she also sells her products, as well as food that she has prepared, at a local park.

Yuliana is applying for a loan of 1000 Nuevo Soles in order to buy supplies for making her corn liquor and to buy sugar, red meat, plantains, and yucca, in order to prepare "seco de chabelo" (a traditional meat dish) and so earn a higher living to enjoy a better quality of life.
