A loan of $1,075 helped to buy a vehicle for carrying the firewood he sells.

Alberto's story

Alberto, 45, and his wife live in La Matanza, a rural area known for its carob forests. La Matanza is about two hours from Piura, a city in north coastal Perú and local people depend on farming, animal-rearing and other small businesses.

Alberto operates a business selling firewood. He carries it to the surrounding towns in a rented vehicle. He earns extra income by working as a day laborer.

Alberto is applying for a 3,000 new soles loan that he will use to buy a used mototaxi. The investment will allow him to save the cost of renting a vehicle for carrying firewood to his customers and, by extension, increase the money he can make to support his family.
