A loan of $2,050 helped to buy cows.

Anarkan's story

Anarkan is 51 years old and married. She and her husband are raising a son, their only child, who is in the 7th grade. Anarkan’s husband has secondary education and earns a supplementary income by working as a seasonal construction worker. Anarkan has finished technical college. In the past, she worked for many years as a dairy maid. At present, as the main source of income for her family, Anarkan raises livestock. She launched this business 30 years ago by buying livestock for 500 KGS. Thanks to Anarkan’s hard work, her farm now has five dairy cows and 1 ha [2.5 acres] of land, where she grows rice and clover every year. After harvesting rice, Anarkan sells her rice to resellers for cash, which brings in a decent income. She uses clover as animal fodder year round. Her monthly income is 15,000 KGS. In order to develop her business further, Anarkan has applied to the Bai Tushum & Partners microfinance institution for a loan to increase her livestock by buying cattle. Anarkan plans to invest the resulting income into a further expansion of her livestock.
