Ghaitha Group's story

Ghaitha group consists of four women from AL-Hodeida, Yemen.

Halima, who is 56 years old, is the leader of the group. She is illiterate. She is the mother of seven children and the breadwinner of the family.

Ten years ago, she started up her business in selling ice cream to assist her husband in covering household expenses. She had no choice but to work and provide her family with food and clothing.

Al-Hodeidah Governorate is one of the warmest cities in Yemen, and therefore most of the residents buy ice cream daily.

Halima has applied for a loan of YER 30,000 to buy a new fridge to keep her ice cream cold . She wants to start selling ice creams in new quarters and places in her city.

Halima looks forward to improving her family's living conditions.
