A loan of $925 helped to buy sheep for fattening and resale.

Begimjan's story

Begimjan is 46 years old, married and has raised two sons with her husband. The eldest son lives and works in the capital of Kyrgystan and helps the family financially, while the youngest son lives with the parents and helps with the farm. Begimjan has a high school degree and she raises livestock for a living. She started six years ago with 8,000 som KGS. Her diligent work expanded the herd and now Begimjan owns fifteen sheep. Begimjan re-sells the sheep at the local market after fattening them and makes 5,000 som KGS monthly profit this way. In order to further increase her herd Begimjan applied for a loan with micro-finance bank "Bai Tushum and partners" which she will use to buy more sheep. She plans to get more sheep with the profits from the loan and eventually plans to save enough money to purchase her son a car.
