A loan of $550 helped to purchase animal feed.

Sofia Esperanza's story

Sofía Esperanza is 55 years old and lives with her husband and daughter in the Cayaltí district. Her town, two hours from the city of Chiclayo on the north coast of Peru, relies on the cultivation of cane and rice, business and ranching for a living.

Sofía raises and sells small animals: turkeys, ducks, chickens and guinea pigs. She explains that she does this work to help her husband with household expenses. He works growing yuca, corn and beans and sells them at the local market. They are a united family that works hard.

"Shofi", as she is known, has requested a loan of 1,500 New Soles to purchase animal feed and in this way have a better product to offer her clients.
