A loan of $900 helped to buy supplies for his fruit-growing business.

Lauriano's story

Lauriano, 62, lives in San Felipe, a mountain district in northern Peru. San Felipe is about two hours from the city of Jaen and farming--coffee, rice and fruits, mostly--is a major source of income for local people.

Lauriano grows limes on his farm and sells his lime crop to buyers in Pucara and Chiclayo. He also grows beans. He is applying for a 2,500 new soles loan, part of which he will use to buy manure for fertilizing his fields and the rest to buy lime trees so that he can grow his business and, in turn, increase his income.
