A loan of $4,300 helped a member to buy provisions.

Candelaria Group's story

The “Candelaria” communal bank will begin its thirty-first cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Adela regional center. It is comprised of eight members, and it is led by a board of directors. Estela is the secretary. The businesses of the members of the communal bank are varied, and among them are selling soft drinks, electrical shop, selling coffee, selling jackets, selling vegetables, selling shoes, selling clothes, and selling appliances.

The loan that they will take out will benefit small businesswomen where Estela is a member. She says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for two years. She joined by invitation from an adviser with the institution who went to visit her at her house. She currently has a business of selling provisions like rice, sugar, and grains, etc. She learned this business several years ago on her own initiative when she saw that these products are sold a lot in the market.

The loan that she will now take out is to increase capital to buy provisions that she will get from the wholesale distributors in the city of El Alto. She will later sell the provisions by order. This way of working allows her to generate resources to support her family. She is married and has one child.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the health services and the loans that the institution offers.
